Part of Haringey's Real Rebels

Haringey Community Activists Oral History Project

Many of our rebels' voices have already been lost, and others will be lost far too soon. Once they are lost, the history, the memories, the experiences and the positivity are lost as well — unless we capture this knowledge before we lose our older rebels from around the borough.

This project aims to record, and where feasible film, the experiences of as many Haringey rebels as we can find: local people who will give us time to talk to them, record their words, and if appropriate film them — turning the filming into a local historical archive.

To reach as many different communities as possible, we need people involved from different backgrounds, to speak to the rebels within their own communities. We have a diverse group involved, but we need to hear from anyone — especially from minority communities — who would like to participate.

Interested?

  • We have set up a steering group to run this project from the start. Are you interested in being involved?
  • We are working with people with experience of running oral history projects, but we need people to interview our older rebels. You would be trained up.
  • We need filmmakers so we can film as many interviews as possible — culminating in a film we present at the end of 2027.
